I began my counseling career in the mid-90's with a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Throughout the many ups and downs that I have experienced in my life, that desire has held strong. My greatest professional hope is that I will be able to influence my clients in positive ways and that the quality of their lives will in some way improve due to the time we spend together. I work with individuals, couples, families and groups on issues such as depression, anxiety, acute trauma, couple and family relationships, and interpersonal issues. I have specialized training and experience in counseling children, adolescents and young adults. I have also studied hypnosis, EMDR and TIR and am able to use these techniques effectively, in particular to assist those dealing with traumatic experiences, anxiety and depression. As of September 2017, I am a certified clinical trauma professional (cctp) through the International Association of trauma professionals (iatp).
I earned my bachelors degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Psychology and my Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. I am licensed by the State of Florida as a Mental Health Counselor and am a Qualified Supervisor for interns. I have been in private practice since 2007. Prior to and concurrently with entering private practice, I spent over 14 years working as a counselor for a variety of organizations, including Suncoast Hospice, Marriage and Family Center, Northwood University, Catholic Charities and Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute..
